subject: please advise

inspired by the revival of my favorite blog (also sleeping for just over a year), it seemed time to give this another go.

i've sent the email below to my star readers georgia nicols and holiday mathis and patiently await their response.

Dear Holiday and Georgia,
Please accept my apologies for a joint email but your horoscopes appear together in my local paper, the Chicago Sun-Times. Thank you for your advice not to communicate or move today. If accidents and communication errors were limited to today I would certainly stay parked on the couch, but it's Sunday and I have some errands to run and so I think I'll manage.

I would also like to give some advice to the both of you as I feel a little selfish for our one way relationship. You have lovely websites, both of which I visited for the first time today. My suggestion is to remove the link to yesterday's horoscopes as there is really no need to look once the day has past. (Plus there's a lot of room for error!)
Thanks for always reading my stars!
-MM

Ladies, oops! I forgot the real question: do you think it's the right time to start posting on my blog again? Thanks.

attention FIFA this italian boy is not celebrating the world cup

WOW blogspot has gotten really fancy. now i can emphasize important points, give my posts a little attitude. add a scholarly reference
What is a moderate Muslim? It could mean someone who's not very serious about his religion or someone who's quite serious about his religion but not very political about it.
and even send you to funny SNL videos. i am so excited that i sent this boy to climb up a fountain and stick a football in it

material girl hawks h&m

kind of an odd choice for h&m, she was no doubt extremely expensive and a little old for the 12 years olds who make going into the store a good dare, but I'll keep listening. the real news though is that i just discovered that h&m is swedish. i have been spending quite a bit of time at the the other swedish kingdom, ikea, and now live in an ikea showroom of sorts. adding other swedish imports like the hives and lingdonberries and how stockholm is probably the hippest city in the world and i guess i have start learning the national anthem.

dressing up shouldn't be just for celebrity dogs

i just saw a K9 unit at the chicago ave red line. my heart almost stopped beating from seeing the huge muzzled german sheperds. i have no drugs or bombs but i always think it's possible that a trace amount of something is on my person and that one of the dogs might try and tear my throat out. but maybe if they made the police dogs wear police uniforms they might look more friendly. dogs in clothes is quite a trend i am sure the canines would be for it. then i could take the el without having a to worry about peeing in my pants.

i think i have a problem

why are there not huge flashing signs to warn you of the dangers of ebay before you sign up for an account? for the first week i played it cool, not raising my bids as i lost one auction after another. but two weeks later i have been piling up the wins and the trips to the bank for cashier's checks. the other day my cointern declared it a good thing that i don't have a lot of money otherwise i would be amassing a lot of crap. this was because i wanted to buy out the fantasy celeb league (it is a genius concept www.fantasycelebleague.com). but it turns out you don't need a large fortune to amass crap. just an ebay account.

these vases are my most recent win.

may the gods guard your safety

the latin and greeks were the masters of salutations, and it is in accordance with their traditions that we still close a letter with a wish for good health or a blessing. but what would they think of our modern day sign offs? i am perturbed by the frequent "best"s that i get. another one i see a lot is "warmly". i wonder what these really mean. i worked for a woman who had a strong aversion to using "sincerely", so i had a good year of thinking of other ways to end a letter and try not to make it sound like a love letter. my favorite sign offs come from a friend who regularly sign as an only somewhat famous figure. i have taken to using BJK for Billie Jean King. do you have a favorite or least favorite salutation?

your humble manservant,
BJK

johnny depp...i'll take it

finally a workable definition of genealogy - the study of what celebrities you most resemble. research yourself at http://www.myheritage.com/. they scan a picture and compare your face structure to a database of past and present famous names. i got a 66% match with johnny depp. i admit i didn't see it at first (note: i'm not a member of mr. depp's sex) but after i googled the following images i am in total agreement.
